Uneventful FridaySo cousin Qiuping (fellow cow and a damn tall, slim and pretty girl if I do say so myself =3) from Malaysia came over yesterday with her boyfriend on a cruise ship with people who bought the package from the tour agency company she works in. Uncle Cody picked her up from Vivocity and went over to visit grandma before coming over to my place to drop her stuffs off. Aunt Zena came over later to take over the host position after Uncle Cody goes off to work.
Couldn't make it to pick her up since I'm working and all (was a lil too late to take a day off... this is what happens when I don't plan ahead. Lol... To think that she took a day off to pick us up when we went to Malaysia last month. Sorry girl!! :( )
And they couldn't make up their mind as to where they wanna meet me so I asked them if they wanna go Singapore Flyer after I get off work (we haven't bought the tickets and it'll be quite a mad rush to go down to the Flyer after work for me) or go Orchard Road to walk around a bit(they've been to Orchard too many times and the price range is a little out of their budget. Mine too, truth be told. Lol...) or we could meet up and shop around Tampines Central (closest to home and has pretty much everything that they might wanna buy). Ended up opting for the most logical choice and just when I was preparing to go home, Aunt Zena called up and said we're going to Tanjong Pagar instead. She'd been telling me about this great little shop called Jing Hua that sells delicious minced meat noodles and dumplings (even more delicious than the famed Ding Tai Fung) but we haven't got the chance to go so what a way to kill two birds with one stone huh?
Didn't think that the testing would overrun and since we finish at 5.30pm on Fridays usually, I said I'll meet up with them around 6.30pm. Plenty of time right? The testing ended at 6pm and I told them I'd reach around 7pm since I'm gonna take a cab but it was the TGIF rush hour and traffic sucks more than usual. Reached Tanjong Pagar at 7.30pm.
Poor mom, aunt and the couple... they had to shop around Chinatown for a lil more than an hour while waiting for me. By the time I arrived, they were famished and legs were aching. Especially mom's. She really can't walk for too much. Lol...
The food--as my foodie aunt had promised--was delicious. Yes, it is indeed more delicious than the famed Ding Tai Fung. It don't look like much but the meat is fresh, the food is tasty and we were able to finish a bunch of them without feeling sickened by the oiliness that comes with most Chinese cuisines. Even the famed Ding Tai Fung fell prey to the oiliness. The 5 of us had the minced meat noodles, dumplings (14 pcs), pot stickers (10 pcs), hot and spicy noodles and soup and Sichuan veggie and sliced meat noodles. Aunt suggested we go for just the desserts next time coz all the times she's there, she couldn't find space in her stomach to fit desserts in. They have glutinous rice balls and some Chinese pizza thing that has garlic chives and meat and seafood. Sounds disgusting but I love the weirdness of it. Lol...

Eventful SaturdayWoke up early today coz Uncle Cody's coming over to go down to have Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee together. It's really been a long while since we last went there. Even before dad's bypass, we didn't go eat there for a couple of months (years?) but the last time we went, the portions had shrunk. Well, the portions are still small today but at least it weren't shrinking at the rate it was all those months (years?) ago.
Qiuping and her boyfriend Eddie's friends joined us for lunch and we had barley with the prawn noodles. Yum! Had to dine and dash coz I had class later.
During class, I was blindsided by a dull and throbbing pain on my left temple, tightness at the back of my head and my right temple was trying to get my attention with a small but annoying voice. The inter-cranium pressure feels high. Couldn't really tell if it's a headache, migraine or something other than headache (coz it doesn't feel like a headache to me. Just real tight. Like my brain's swelling inside my skull or something.). Bro says that as long as it hurts inside the head, it's a headache. =_= gee... Didn't quite know how that came about but it got better just as the ah beng contractor of a lecturer/teacher was going into the last part of the lecture. He gave us 2 additional exercise to do but I went off before he gave the answer. Hindsight says I should've just stayed for another couple of minutes and not have so much doubt in my head right now. =_= I also ended up missing a stop on the train and had to double back. The time taken prolly amounts to me staying behind and listening to his explanation. =___=
Met up with everyone at One Fullerton and had Coffee Bean's new hazelnut ice blend with whipped cream. Sucked down about a quarter and decided to spice it up a little with cinnamon powder. Yum! The cinnamon complemented the hazelnut perfectly. The only thing that I can complain about is how the ice blend was supposed to be a coffee ice blend but I couldn't taste any coffee in it. Either that or I was mistaken about the coffee. Lol...
Apparently, they went to Bugis and Sim Lim Square while I was neck deep in chemical compounds.
After the little pit stop, we made our way over to the Singapore Flyer (finally!) and took a shuttle bus from City Hall (near Funan IT Mall) to the Flyer site. Coz we were a little pressed for time and couldn't afford to wait for the next shuttle bus and coz the bus had a no-standing policy, we had to squeeze 3 person into 2 seats and 4 person into another 2 seats. I ended up on my cousin's lap and since I'm getting heftier due the good life I'm leading, I decided not to put my whole weight on her and supported myself a little with arms gripping on the rails and legs taking some weight off. Ended up with jelly legs by the time the long and bumpy half hour ride was over. I could literally feel my legs spazzing and I had to move real carefully without bending my knees too much just in case they give out completely.
So we went on the Flyer and the 30 minute long panoramic view of the CBD area is rather pretty. Shiny lights everywhere. Unfortunately, we couldn't take good pictures coz the lighting wasn't good and we didn't have pro cameras with us. It's a right pity coz at the top, we were able to take almost everything--including the cranes that are constructing the Integrated Resort. I'd always wanted to take a picture of those cranes when we were driving down the highway there but we couldn't stop in the middle of the road just coz I wanna take a pretty picture. It would've been real great too. There's this real sweet spot where I could totally take an award-winning picture from--right in the middle of the road divider. Lol... Ah well... A right pity. So I took a bunch of shaky moving lights and blue faced people (capsule's lighting was blue). Feels like the twilight zone or X-files or something. Lol...
The first thing I did when we got off the capsule was to make a mad dash for the washroom coz my spastic colon decided to start spazzing the moment I enter the capsule. I'd gone to the WC before we board but couldn't qualm the rumbling gurgle my stomach had been doing since shortly after we left One Fullerton. Felt a little better after the mad dash but the rumbling gurgle continued, albeit at a gentler pace. Given the time frame, it musta been the hazelnut ice blend with cinnamon powder and whipped cream.
Gurgh... I feel like Franky when he's doing his
coup de boo. Which reminds me of that time when I was watching OP and I realized that I'm actually Franky. Lol... I run on cola and spend money freely and extravagantly--always end up spending everything and never saving a single cent for myself. And now with my spastic colon, I can do his attack too. D:
Digression over. So after getting off the Flyer, we went to have steamboat dinner at Liang Seah Road, around Beach Road area. The Chong Qing steamboat is always full and we were lucky to find a place for 8 people within the hour. There is a choice of 2 soup bases in one pot so we had the normal non-spicy chicken base and the medium spicy base. The medium spicy base is actually super damn hot base to me. Lol... Good thing the lime juice and water chestnut juice are free flow. I finished like a glass every 5-10 minutes. Me and Uncle Cody piled on the meat and even though I didn't feel like I'd put a lot into my belly, I'm pretty sure I'd eaten quite a lot. D: I really should start exercising soon. Crunches for half an hour everyday at least. I feel so fat and pudgy, it ain't even funny. Can't stand the nua-ness! Rawr...
