The following happened because of something else that happened.
There was a screw-up at the cinema earlier this month. Apparently mom's credit card was still charged for the 6 tickets that was not collected. Wrote an email and fax to the management under my mom's name and my phone number to get their attention and earlier today, the manager in charge called me back asking for my mom.
So I said "yes, I'm her". And they went on to ask what relation is this Theresa to me and I answered "she's my daughter", since I really am my mom's daughter and I'm pretending to be her. He went on to say he'll get the credit card matter settled within a week or two and will keep me posted and all that.
It was only much later, after I left the office, did I suddenly realize how misleading that must've sounded. And at that instant, I suddenly remembered having the feeling of a whole bunch of heads turning to my direction. I know for a fact that the moment the words "she's my daughter" left my lips, the two guys on internship with me turned and I made eye contact for a fraction of a second with them.
They're prolly thinking "WTF! She has a daughter?!?! And she's still a student?? And she's 2 years younger than us!?!!?!?!?!!!?!?"
And given their penchant for assuming without any attempts to clarify matters, I'd really like to see how far this lil slip of tongue will go. Lol...
