Not to say that I found everything I'm looking for but I'll take what little triumphs come my way...
So was having a late instant noodle dinner out front with dad and TV and this ad came on. That ad had been haunting me for years coz the English song that it used was rather nice and breezy, if a song could be considered breezy. Just a hint of melancholy and is well... haunting! And for the life of me, I could not find it.
When I first heard it years ago (at least 2 years ago coz I remember being at home studying for exams while still in NTU), I tried my best to catch the lyrics and find it online to no avail. I even used my SE Walkman phone's awesome TrackID app to record and send a sample over the very expensive phone data thing but they couldn't find it in their database. I think I even posted a thread on the channel's forum asking about the song but no replies.
Today however, I strained my hearing to catch barely 2 lines of lyrics. Not putting too much hope into things, I googled (on which I played Pac Man on this afternoon--fun stuff!) and lo! I found it!! And imagine my surprise when I found out it is not by an angmoh but by a Chinese. A Taiwanese called Europa Huang. Don't let the name fool you. He's got a great voice. :D Click here for his website.
The song is Over the Way
Lyrics:黃建為 Music:黃建為 Arranger: 吳金黛&黃建為(吉他)
The sunshine's come, the flowers dance along the river, the mountain. It's cold in the stream, I jump in and swim, being a dreamer, saying nothing in words.
Approaching to a child, ignoring the crowd. I hear my heart beat, it's so real. Nameless song, I've sung it over the way.
And maybe I'll be alone to be on the tramp with the moon. So you empty the roads leading the craft for truth.
Yai yai yai ya
'Cause I don't have wings to fly so freely like birds in the sky. I'll have to let go of mind to soar in the wind and smile.
Approaching to a child, ignoring the crowd. I hear my heart beat, it's so real. Nameless song, I've sung it over the way.
I am not being regular in jotting down the chronicles of my life. Ah well...
School: Lab test later today (I say today coz it's 1.41am and I really should be sleeping now) and prof only put up the postlab answers for exp 13-19 ytd morning. Screwed! Exam next week and there are still tons of stuff I'm not getting into my noggin. Double screwed!! Not helping my case are watching characters get screwed in compelling shows and reading how Doc Banner gets screwed over and over again in The Incredible Hulk Vol. 3. I cannot resist a good screw (pun totally intended). Nor can I not get addicted to something whenever it gets close to the exams. I really should discipline myself. Then again, that's what The Mother was doing for all of my life so I didn't have to. Never did quite learn how :P
Work: Had been cabbing to work the whole of last week coz I couldn't wake up on time. Too tired... Now broke. I took time off for exam but not for lab test, thinking that I didn't need it but seeing as how the prof only put up the answers for the last half of the lab up ytd morning, I think I need more time so I took some. Was supposed to meet with our DD to talk about the proj tmr later today but I guess small boss hafta go by himself then. Really didn't wanna pull such a last min thing but for the sake of scraping some marks back. The 2 MCQs didn't help my case. T_T
Home: CPU almost burnt down. Was happily watching stuff and suddenly smelled burning. A quick sniff told me it originated from my tower and I did what anyone with a CPU that smells like burnt circuit boards do. I turned everything off and unplugged the cord immediately. After the burning smell died down, I couldn't resist and cracked open the case to see if there are any lasting damage. Luckily there isn't any. Since the tower was open, I did some dusting and cleaning and soon, I had to bring in the maid to do a clean sweep and mop of my room. Gods, the amount of dust bunnies hiding in dark corners in my room (not including the ones I evicted from my CPU) was enough to scare even my bro. Heh... He even admitted that. All because the maid did not bother to pull boxes out to get to the tough corners. I suppose that's how they are. I wouldn't wanna do more than what I could get away with if I'm on minimum wages either. Eventually I decided to just leave the tower ungutted for all to see. More air flow that way, eh?
...Gotta warn the kiddies not to poke their sticky fingers around though. I will break them if they break my CPU.
