Thanks to Hari Raya Haji on 27 Nov, we have a long weekend and here's how I'd spent it.

Warning: Wall of Text!

27 Nov

Had hi-tea buffet at Lao Beijing in Plaza Singapura. That's a lot of Chinese chives and shallow/pan fried food...
Had chestnut cake. Delicious but lacking in something. Something I can't put my finger on...
Got some interesting presents too. Got $100 Kino voucher, a deck of R-rated poker cards, a mug with cows in various coital positions and the main event: a dick-shaped translucent lamp with lights that change color! I made me clique go into a sex shop for the first time! When I asked bro "Don't people go into sex shop out of curiosity anymore?", he answered "They never do. 'cept for you of course."
Wanted to watch 2012 but GV Plaza Singapura is almost all filled so we took some group pictures with the poster instead.
Went to Dynasty KTV--famous for its *ahem* side ventures--to sing til 10.30pm. I managed to yell my heart out to Shin Yue Tuan's Tian Gao Di Hou in the most impressive and not-out-of-tune way. That's really a toughie. Whee... Gods know I love those screamy rock song but damn if I have to sing them all. I'd shred my throat to strips permanently after just a few hours.
Left my bag of toys besides the poster T_T. Lucky for me, one of the sharp-eyed guy saw it and took it for me. I only realized I left my presents back in PS after I got to Dynasty. >_<
After the KTV, everyone was beat and went home. Except for lz, dw and me. We felt it was still early and since lz and me both really wanted to watch 2012 and dw didn't mind driving us home after the movie, we stayed behind to buy tickets. Went from The Cathay to GV PS and back to The Cathy again. Didn't really matter which cinema we go to in the end as we all ended up with tix for 2nd row from the screen. Movie was a blast but like most movies, you gotta leave your brains at the door.
dw drove lz home and asked if I wanted to drive his huge SUV home from lz's place so I did. It might be because that vehicle is gonna get scrapped soon... that's why he was so bold to let me try. Lol... As expected of big cars, the brake needs to apply more pressure and the braking distant is longer so gotta brake earlier and the gas needs to apply more pressure and the acceleration is slower so gotta press more. But the seats are high and I can finally see what's going on on the roads even when I didn't really adjust the mirrors properly! XD I like big cars for their high seats... *has short body*
Reached home around 4.30am I think...

Warning: Potential movie spoiler!!!
What's with John Cusack and being casted as a limo driver? First in Identity, now in 2012...
What's with John Cusack and being casted with Amanda Peet? First in Identity, now in 2012... Woah, deja vu.
2012 showcased his l33t driving skillz for Russian guy Yuri's limo, Woody Harrelson's camper van and Russian guy Yuri's Bentley...
Sasha can be a male Russian name so does that mean that TF2 Heavy is teh ghey when he refers to his beloved weapon as Sasha?
Russian guy Yuri's young bodyguard-cum-pilot Sasha is in Eastwick with glasses and a Nikon D50 camera... <3 megane-kun
Captain of the ship where all the main cast are in is Hollis Mason aka Nite Owl I in Watchmen! *_*

Went for dinner at Dian Xiao Er in Vivocity. Another round of sinful yet delicious Chinese cuisine. The ribs and Peking duck are yummy. Felt overdressed when I saw my friends...
Finished dinner bit early so we went to get some drinks at Food Republic on the top level where the Christmas tree is. Same tree deco was used last year.
Finally went over to St James. Why is it that my friends from work are only free around end Nov? Happened last year too. Attendance this year is sorely lacking though. But that's ok coz we have other people coming over. hj was so on when I told her I'm going to St James on Sat and asked if she wanted to come along. She even got some friends to come with her.
We had a few glasses of drinks at Boiler Room, saw some performance and teasing from the house band/entertainers and went over to Powerhouse for some insane dancing, went back to Boiler Room when our legs got tired 1 hour of straight dancing later and danced some more to the 2nd round of house band performance. My ears were still ringing when we left...
Teehee... Before we left for Powerhouse, this handful of slightly older Caucasian men couldn't find the bathroom and wandered to our little corner thinking that there's the WC. They asked where was the bathroom and I pointed to the other direction and one of them said he liked my style. I had on my black pageboy cap, swirly earrings, long grey Dolman top/short skirt by bYSI and a black shorts underneath coz I'm chor loh like that. One of the guys from work said "eh... older angmoh man leh... Your kinda guy. Go after him la!" XD
The MC/rapper for the house band seems to have taken a liking to our corner too coz he'd wandered over to our side of the stage a few times and tried to talk to us a bit while performing on said stage. Could be because of hj with me beside the stage and all the other lovely ladies with us and not just me I suppose... :)
Fun times. Hope us old fogeys didn't bore hj XD. Reached home around 4am and my ears were still ringing.

Got woken up by The Mother(tm) at 10 plus. Knees still hurt, ears still ringing. She tried to drag me to Singapore Expo for Sitex. We needed to get another LCD TV for my comp coz my previous one died 10 months after the warranty expired. I had to use back the one we got prior to the previous one. That TV screen is massive! With it on the table with my keyboard and mouse, the viewing distance is too short and I felt like my myopia will shoot up to 1000 degrees or something so The Mother(tm) bought my previous one to replace the one prior to the previous one. Talk about circular. So I grunted that I'll go down later to get what I want and she left for Sitex with dad to get my TV. She called again to ask if I'm ok with a 23" coz the difference was $100 and if I'm
Finally woke up enough to go down. Got out and made at least 8 laps of both exhibition halls. Helped aunt buy RAM and wireless keyboard and mouse set. Bought some more DVDRs coz I eat them for breakfast and I'm running low. Bought a laptop.
On the first day of the 24th year of my existence, I finally own a laptop!! Even though I really don't need one!!! And I'm totally broke!!!! Woohoo!
The story behind my wanting a laptop started with me finding out that I still have around $300 worth of prorated flexi-benefits claim from last year and since they don't let us carry over the benefits, I might as well spend it on something. But what can I spend it on? Insurance? I don't buy insurance. Travel expenses? I can't go on a vacation while taking me part time. Spectacles? Maybe, but mine is still working fine (is considering getting those transition lenses though... Maybe I'll use this year's flexi-money for that). I know! IT products. I can get an external harddrive, an external DVD burner, more RAM, maybe even a laptop! Don't need camera, don't need camcorder, don't need printer.
When bro comes back from camp and The Mother wants to use the computer, I'll end up with no computer *is sad*. Coincidentally, bro was whining for a laptop to play WoW by left in base with so I thought I'll use last year's flexi-money and we'll split the cost. That was the plan in September during the previous IT show. Good thing I decided to wait it out. Now I can happily say I have completely skipped past Windows Shitsta and plunged into the newly-launched and most-likely-still-buggy-but-hopefully-is-better-than-Shitsta, Windows 7! So far, I've heard good things from people who is it now so I'm hopeful. XD
I had to prompt the boy who sold it to me for some freebies that I need (like the keyboard protector and cleaning kit) and when it came to payment, he said he'll give me a cooling fan and I said what about the cleaning kit? I don't reli need the cooling fan. On hindsight, maybe I should've left out that last sentence and insist he gimme the cooling fan like a typical Singaporean. *shrugs*
I didn't expect the whole set of stuff to be so heavy! Had to call dad to pick me up.
Got home, had a slice of durian cake =3 and fix up, tune and test the TV.
Now to install Windows 7, Norton the annoying Security Suite and Microsoft the useless Office... Really hope Norton the annoying and Microsoft the useless works properly with Win7.
